President

Vice President

Rich Valdez

I was born and raised in Pueblo and now live in Colorado Springs. My first experience with CGRA was attending RMRR with a friend of mine who was a past Mr. CGRA. This was my first time ever attending a gay rodeo and I didn't know what to expect, but everyone that I met was very welcoming and I had a great time all weekend. This started my adventure with CGRA and has allowed me to experience all aspects of Rodeo, from competing and volunteering to being Mr. CGRA 2005. I have enjoyed being part of such a great family, because that is what we are, and I am honored to have been elected Vice President of CGRA coming into our 30th year of Rodeo here in Colorado. If there are any questions and/or concerns you have with our Royalty program or if you would like to help out in any way, please feel free to contact me.

Treasurer

David Hill

David began as a volunteer in the contestant's office for a professional rodeo in 1980 and he continues his involvement with that rodeo. He attended his first Rocky Mountain Regional Rodeo in 1984 and moved to Denver later that year and immediately became involved with CGRA. The next year, he began as a dance chairperson and moved up to treasurer rodeo weekend. He has been on the CGRA board, as treasurer, for several years. He also is the treasurer for IGRA David became the first rodeo auditor when the position was created within IGRA and remains in that position.

Trustee

John Beck

John moved to Denver in 1983, joined the CGRA, and competed in Rocky Mountain Regional Rodeo #4 after meeting Wayne Jakino in Charlie's who said, "I hear you can ride." John also participated in the Royalty program - he was Mr. CGRA in 1986/87 and went on to be a Mr. IGRA Runner-Up in 1987/88. John has trained and supported many other contestants on the IGRA circuit. He has assisted every CGRA Royalty team in preparing their horsemanship tapes, often lending his horse in addition to his time and expertise. Although he gave up competing in rough stock over 10 years ago, he has continued to educate and start many others who have gone on to win buckles in those events. And many of us have benefited from one of his roping clinics or horsemanship training sessions. John has won several All-Around titles - primarily in Denver, Salt Lake City, and Wichita - and has competed in every IGRA Finals Rodeo except for Reno in 2006. Only a barrel racing injury kept him from heading west for that rodeo.

Membership

John Hill

While I grew up in upstate New York, Denver has been home for me the past 10 years. By day, I work in education, and I hope to utilize that mentality to share with non-members the benefits of membership in CGRA. While I don't compete in rodeo myself, I have a respect and admiration for those who do, and I want to help support those competitors in any way possible. I hope you'll join us in our 30th year as we continue to support gay rodeo both here in Colorado and across the country.

Rodeo Director

Mary Munger

I have been involved in rodeo since 1995, my first rodeo was Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs. I fractured my back in that rodeo, and came back to try rodeo again at Rocky Mountain Regional Rodeo in 1997. I buckled in Chute Dogging, the first time ever competing in that event. I have been a competitor in rodeo since July 1997, doing camp events, chute dogging, calf roping on foot, and horse speed events. I have never counted my buckles won or ribbons, but have a nice collection of both. I was Ms. CGRA 2002, then Ms. IGRA 2003. I have served on the Board Of Directors since 2002, except for 2010 when I took care of personal matters. I have a passion for giving back to my community, and rodeo is the best avenue to follow with that in mind. I was Assistant Rodeo Director in 2010, and have been elected Rodeo Director for RMRR 29 for 2011 (still think that ballot box was rigged : ). I live in Lakewood with my two kitty cats, and my beloved dog, Bella. My motto is 'Life Is Good' and 'I can't, is unacceptable vocabulary'.

Public Relations

Dan Rutledge

I moved to Denver from Wyoming in 1997. The first gay bar I hung out in was Charlie's. Seeing two guys two-stepping with each other was a huge shock to me for the first time. I quickly learned how "family" Charlie's felt. I even worked part time at Charlie's for a bit. I can remember how honest Wayne Jakino was and how much fun he could be to be around. Made a person want to be better than he was already. I asked lots of questions about CGRA and learned allot by talking to members. Finally made the choice to join in 1999. I have competed in barrels, poles, flag race, steer deco, goat dressing and chute dogging as well as wild drag. John Beck taught me how to chute dog and I was hooked.

Growing up in Wyoming, I have been riding since I was 3, have showed horses, sheep and heifers in 4H. Rode in saddle club and gymkhanas. But after moving away from home to collage I lost contact with rodeo friends and family and stopped doing any kind of competing. Until I became a member of CGRA. I have had a small break in my involvement with CGRA from 2004 to 2008. Just hanging out in the background not really doing anything. Thank god a close friend of mine kind of gave me a kick in the butt. I got the bug again to be around more folks like me who loved rodeo and horses and such. Became more involved. Currently I am working on my certification to become a Score keeper. In 2003 I served CGRA as Entertainment Chair and in November of 2009, I won the title of Mr. CGRA 2010. I was elected Public Relations chair for 2011. I again serve CGRA as Public Relation Chair for 2012.

I look forward to working with all of you in our 30th anniversary year. So please if you have any comments or suggestions please let me know. I serve you our membership.
